The Mechanical Engineering Department offers thesis and non-thesis MS programs. In both programs, students can pursue their graduate study either in the mechanical area or thermo-fluid area. The instruction language for MSc. Program is English. Before starting the program, all non-native speakers of English are required to submit a proof of satisfactory knowledge of English.
Admission:To qualify for admission to the Thesis MSc. program in Mechanical Engineering, students are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or in For admission to the non-thesis program, students are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or in any field. Candidates who have bachelor’s degree in another field may be required to take additional mechanical engineering undergraduate courses to acquire the necessary background in the field.
Evaluation of Turkish citizen applicants is based on their bachelor’s degree grade point average (GPA) and ALES/GRE (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı – Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination) scores. For foreign applicants, admission to the program is based on bachelor’s degree grade point average (GPA) and interview (online).
Degree Requirement: The MSc. with thesis program requires successful completion of a total of 21 credits of coursework (7 courses), non-credit ME 590 Seminar course, non-credit RME 500 Research Methods and Ethics course and ME 599 MSc. thesis. The non-thesis MSc. program requires successful completion of a total of 30 credits of coursework (10 courses), RME 500 Research Methods and Ethics course and non-credit ME 592 Project course. In both, thesis and non-thesis programs, the coursework contains two compulsory applied engineering mathematics courses (6 credits). Expected duration to complete the MSc. program is four semesters; the maximum duration is six semesters.
